40k miles is definately lower than you have probably experienced with your previous cars, HOWEVER, those days are long gone and with todays cars and the incredibly short stopping distances (the 93 is very good even amoung newer cars) you are going to give up something. That something in this case is rotor life. Rotors go with pads. You could always go with a different pad/rotor setup but you are going to give up stopping distance. $ vs. safety is the question.
