Still searching for alternative fog lights

I regard the stock ones was overpriced, mediocre and fragile, and beleive that there must be an alternative for Saabs the same way there is for similar marques. I do not like having garishly aftermarket parts on the car, but don't mind subtle changes if they yield an worthwhile benefit for a compelling purpose (performance, longevity, cost, or hopefully, all three).
I noticed Hella sells a kit for VWs with its clever micro projector fog lights housed in a stock-looking undergrill. (See pic)
I found a euro supplier willing to get me the analagous undergrill from a base level euro 9-3, and was wondering: how hard is it to home cook something like this to fit on the 9-3, using the hella lights and the original grill? Anyone have that kind of experience on any model of car?
Would it be easier to simply do a mesh mod to my grill and towing eye covers, and then stuff/brace the lights into the same mesh? I wish I were a photoshop wiz so that I could put up alternative designs and get others' input.
Just brainstorming (brain-mild-breezing?), so input is especially appreciated.
