... that the car wil not slip off the jack and smush my head. I borrowed the jack from a friend who has no jack-stands, and I am still in that nomadic stage of life where all my worldly possessions fit in the back of my car. I did cram two extra wheels under the car, which would at deaden the blow a little...
And if you saw what I did for a living, you would know that time spent under a car teetering on a jack is the LEAST dangerous part of my life...
My exhaust sprung its first leak at about 42K, but that was just a matter of retightening the clamps. Recently (48K) it has begun blowing muffler packing out, and the joint at the back of the rear muffler is rusting to the point where you can feel a lot of blow-by with your hand, regardless of how tightly its clamped. Both of these problems are probably repairable, but for the time spent under the car, a new exhaust system is much easier.
