That answers my question...
The rubber moulding above the door opening has a lip that you can peel back to expose 2 holes over each door. I think the owner's manual has a picture. The OEM crossbars have little pins that stick into those holes to prevent them from lifting or sliding.
I've been happy with Yakima stuff for about 17 years, but one weakness has been sliding fore/aft... I just haven't got clips for the 9³ yet. Yakima can fit wider crossbars to carry more bikes. I've carried 5 bikes (including one tandem) on the '89 900.
