We went fom a Pontiac to our first Saab, '86 900-S, back in 1987. That C900 served us well for 9 yrs including salty Wisconsin winters and was still rust free, solid, and tight when we sold it. I just had the hankering for a Taurus SHO at the time. Now after 6 yrs in two SHO's I've come back to Saab, this time a 2000 Viggen. The Viggen is clearly more solid and refined, and of better materials and finish, than the Ford. BUT I gotta say, it doesn't feel as well engineered or as solid as the C900 we remember fondly. Love the Viggen's performance & overall it's a fine car. But I will always believe the C900 was an unusually well designed car that put quality before all else. Truly a high point in auto design.
