This has been described for years:
Remove the lamp from the vehicle first, otherwise a clip when removed might fall into the vehicle and not be retrievable. Some have learned the hard way. If the red release of the electrical connector does not want to remove, get a thin blade under its head to help it.
Check the 5 watt bulbs while you are at it. Also a good time to renew the main lamps and keep the old ones with the spare tire.
Take care with the lense gasket. Put a -very-light-film- of silicone grease on it or the housing and lense to facilitate its safe removal at a later date and to make it more water resistant.
When you remove the clip it could pop off, protect your eyes and a cloth over the work will stop it from flying.
The edges of the internal reflectors are as sharp as rasor blades... be very careful. Many have learned the hard way.
Clean the reflectors with very soft cotton cloth. I suggest using water, distilled water. Someone used an amonia cleaner and remove the metal surface from the plastic reflector. Learn from that. Clean the inside of the lense with real windex. Clean dust from the inside of the housing, don't get cut.
Do not get or leave fingerprints on the halogen lamps as these often will lead to lamp failure.
