Military base price for the Linear 93ss is 23,895 (includes the $515 trip to Sweden for 2 and delivery, or a $515 shipping charge to Germany with a $65 'tax-free doc fee' added). This is a $2,630 savings from the US MSRP of 26,525 (includes $625 S+H).
However, with the current rebate in the US (some sources say $2,500; SAAB to dealer. Edmunds say $3,000; from SAAB to buyer), a new 93ss would cost MORE for the Military/Diplomat buyer than one bought in the US.
To compare: BMW's Military price for the 325i is $24,865 (delivered price in Germany, includes $200 dealer prep + $65 'tax-free doc fee') verses the US retail price of 28,495 (includes $695 S+H) delivered in the US...A savings of $3,630. There are no rebates from BMW for US buyers, but I bet a buyer could get a $1,000 off the price in the US, so an actual savings of about $2,500.
Note: Part of the reduction in price is the savings from the 2% import tax not needed to be paid.
So, my questions to the few Military buyers on this board; Have you received any discounts from SAAB when ordering your 93ss?
I like the new 93ss, but I wouldn’t pay more for one here than in the US. OTOH, if the same $3,000 rebate was applied here, I would order a new 93ss. As it is now, a new BMW is the best value here for eth Military buyer when compared to US prices.
BTW: This isn’t about a lower purchase price, it’s about value and resale value. Taking the base price before any options and not taking into account of any dealer discounts: The BMW will cost a $1,000 more here than the SAAB (23,895 Vs. 24,865), but it would cost $4,500 more in the US. (93ss: $26,525-$2,500[lowest of the two rebates]=$24,025 full US MSRP vs. 325i $28,495 full US MSRP).
Also, anyone know if the rebate in the US applies to the Euro-delivery program? If so, anyone know the Euro delivery base price on the 93ss Linear?
Thanks
