Well, the '97 900 definitely had this problem - a bad seal on the windshield. It was corrected under warranty. I think they had that problem solved by 99, though, and the symptom was a bit different - you'd hear a hooting sound as the car got above 60 or so.
My dealer first tried to fix it by gooping more sealant around the affected area. When I complained, they agreed to remove and reseal the windshield. This was done by an auto glass company - when they removed it, the windshield shattered, so they had to replace it. In the process, they cut the headliner. The dealer then agreed to replace the headliner (and billed the glass company for it)!
In the end, all was well...
Now for your problem, I somehow doubt it's the windshield. It's probably more likely to be a less-than-perfect door seal. This series uses a single seal on the door frame and I can often detect wind noise. What you probably need to do is have someone drive the car around while you use a piece of hose as a "stethoscope", one end to your ear and the other placed in different locations, to localize the sound.
