2001 9-3 went crazy today....advice appreciated!!! Posted by ToddM [Email] (#887) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ToddM) on Sat, 19 Apr 2003 20:37:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was driving my girlfriends car today in traffic (2001 Saab 9-3 base, auto with about 19K miles). Weather was ~55 and sunny. Car was runnning normal. Had about a half a tank of gas. Light turns green, I let off the brake, press the gas and the car stutters and shakes like crazy. Almost like all the cylinders misfired at once!
The check engine light and TCS off light illuminate immediately and stay on. I pulled over and shut the car down. I pull out the manual for a quick read, fire up the car and it's running like crap, almost stalling. I put the car in nuetral and give it some gas, seems to run happy.
I read some more in the manual and figure the car is in "limp mode". So i drive the thing home, about 2 miles. Every red light, car starts shaking and almost stalls. So I start putting the car in nuetral and reving it a lil at red lights.
Called Saab dealer, they are closed, say call back on monday. fortunately, I'm from MA and have monday off. I was just wondering what you all think is wrong with the car? Is it safe to drive it to the dealer? Unfortunately my prefered dealer is 40 miles away and the close one i'd rather not use.
Anyway, advice would be appreciated. My girlfriend is worried about her car and so am I. it's only a year and a half old (leftover).
Thanks in advance!
