Stumble at idle revisited - something to check Ros

OK, I posted a couple of days ago about a regular stumble/miss at idle that did not appear to be related to DI / plugs. I suspected maybe a bad batch of fuel. However, having used the car more often over the last couple of days it seems that the stumble/miss virtually disappears once the car is up to temperature, or at least reduces dramatically.
Anyhoo, I had a poke around under the hood today and found that the bottom right (when viewing from the front of the car) exhaust manifold stud was sheared completely through - it was still in the hole but came right out when I pulled it! There were signs of carbon around the area so although there isn't an audible leak, gases are escaping! I now wonder if the same leak is somehow causing the miss at idle when cold? Whether it is or not, the stud needs replacing (oh how I love extracting sheared studs!).
Therefore, my question to those who have done this sort of thing is, on a 1999 9-3 Turbo (T5, 185bhp) is it possible to remove the exhaust manifold without removing the turbo? ie, just move the power steering pump and turbo heatshield out of the way to access all the head-to-manifold and manifold-to-turbo nuts? I need to get an idea of the dismantling involved so I can estimate how loing the job will take me.
Thanks for any help.
