This is what I do on my '01 9-3. First slide both front seats forward ... flip up back seat bottoms ... fold down back seats. I keep the head rest on as the head rest bar folds back and they do not interfere with the front seats. I then get in the driver seat and since I have manual seats, use my legs to push the front seat back as far as possible before releasing the seat fore/aft lock lever. I then do the same for the passenger seat. You pick up a lot of extra leg room by compressing the seat upholstry. So far no lasting damage to the leather as it bounces back and returns to form when you put the rear seats back into position.
