Adding Window Tinting in new 2003 Vector

I picked up my new 2003 9-3 Vector on Monday! Its a great car.
The dealership uses a window tinting firm that is very good. That company has tinted some of the windows in our offices and we've been very pleased.
On Thursday, I am dropping the car off at the dealership, they are giving me a free Lexus to drive, and they'll take the car to the window tinting place (no extra charge).
I live in South Carolina where the summers are quite hot.
At the moment, I am thinking of going with the darkest tint that is legal in S.C. on the side and rear windows. We can not tint the front windshield in South Carolina without causing problems if one were to go through a traffic stop by law enforcement.
I was wondering: does tinting affect how well one can see the side view mirrors? I've noticed a noticeable blind spot on my right (driver's) side which causes me to have to look over my shoulder before changing lanes. I am relatively short so I've been playing around with the mirror position to get the best view of the 'blind spot' as possible.
Does anyone have any experience of tinting and if it affects how well one can see out of the right and left side mirrors? Is it necessary to roll the window down before changing lanes if one has tinting?
I will certainly go with a lighter tint if the darker one would be problematic. Thanks.
