The door speakers are pre-wired and the end of the wire is in the passenger side kick panel where the upgrade amp would be. There is a non-standard connector on them so most likely that will have to be cut off, unless you have a source for an adapter. They main problem of adding a non SAAB amp is getting the audio signal to the amp. The haed unit only has output through an 8-pin audio cable that contains 4 channels of audio data, remote turn on, mute, ground etc.. If you add an aftermarket amp the 8-pin has to be converted to standard RCA inputs. You cant buy an adapter thats made for the 8-pin/RCA so you will have to splice female RCAs to the 8-pin wire. Richard Bevan & ERP have scematics of the 8-pin layout to help you with this. Saab charges $90 for the wire, but I got mine from the wrecking yard for $15. Another option is to get an amp with speaker level inputs or get RCA/speaker level adapters. I recommend not using the speaker wires as your audio signal. To complicate things even further, the remote turn on lead to activate the amp does not have enough voltage to turn on most aftermarket amps. You will have to either steal "switched" power from another source such as the stereo power, anteanna lead, etc.. or Buy a Low voltage trigger an install that to relay the turn on. On the plus side, I believe that there is a constant power source already wired in the kick panel location. If you choose not to mount the amp in the kick panel, you will have to route constant power directly from your battery to the amp, through the firewall etc... (pretty big job). I have my 4-channel amp mounted in the trunk spare (check link) and ran the 4 channel interconnct and all new speaker wires to the speakers.
