i have been pleased to have an extended saab warranty on my base 99 9-3 , repairs and parts are expensive! and even a few relatively minor repairs at the dealer can chew up some change in a hurry, i have had a bunch or minor annoying things fixed that if i was paying out of pocket probably would have lived with ,at some point the DI may fail,exhaust system rot and perhaps the heater box need replacement( to mention a few of the recurrent problem areas of 9-3's you will see mentioned often on this board)which will inconvenience me but not cause financial stress. good luck with your decision
