... what is the point of your hood scoop?
Usually you put a hood scoop on a car with some sort of purpose.
Firebirds, Camaros, and Mustangs use them for a ram-air effect, functioning effectively as a low pressure supercharger at high speed. I think it's kind of funny when people put ostentatious scoops on these cars, because when it comes down to it, they're not fast enough to get much out of a ram-air effect (the Ferrari 550 is another story).
The other way people typically use hood scoops are to get airflow over an intercooler for a forced induction system. The WRX, for example, uses the hood scoop in collaboration with the turbo intercooler. I don't know Mustangs really well, but I imagine the hood scoops may be used similarly in supercharged variants.
The other reason to put a hood scoop on is simply for style. Granted, style is a highly personal thing, and as a Saab driver, who am I to tell someone that they're unconventional interpretation is no good? Then again, every time I see one of those V6 Mustangs with the non-functional hood scoop (you know, covered up by a plastic honeycomb looking cover), I just shake my head. You've put a stylistic "upgrade" on your car to make it look more performance oriented, but ironically, you've sacrificed performance in the process. A non-functional hood scoop does nothing but increase drag.
Now, if you're taking about putting a functional scoop on a Saab, WRX style, and modding your intercooler, etc. accordingly (and if you've got a T7 car, your ECU too), that's cool dude. Right on. The intercooler, esp. in an SE with a front license plate, doesn't get nearly the airflow it could.
But if you just slap a scoop on there for looks, you'll just end up putting a cover over it anyway (otherwise where would you like the air to go under the hood?), and that seems silly to me.
Cheers,
