That sure sounds like a leak in the turbo. Did you look under the TB shroud? Check coupling at the TBTC and hose from TB to IAC. Could be the BPV, I have described how to inspect it several times.
Yes, it could be the BPC ,but thats expensive so check other things first. A borrowed BPC is always a good test.
You can also unconnect the wastegate hose and do a cautious can careful run to see if you are boost capable. That will narrow down the BPC or turbo leak issues quite nicely. And if you hear any knock, get of the throttle. Expect fuel cuts. PS, it will be scarey fast in 2nd gear if you can stay off the fuel cuts. But its hard to control with your foot.
