Hi,
frist of all: thank you for helping me and my friend. (he lives 500miles north from me, so i can´t be on his side)
The mechanic, who´s not a prof. saab mechanic (because he´s working on Audi and VW ) is convinced that it´s only the heater core. . Yesterday he removed the heater core and found a small leak. He said the hole is a manufacturing defective. My friend was "crying" while removing center console -looks awful to see this mechanic working, because handles not with care- I think this mech. dont´ know absolutely nothing about saab, it´s his first 9-3 /1999.
I told y that the mech. found a leaking condensor. He was not looking for this "climate-fault" but found one???? called it: "collateral damage". Now he wants to replace nearly the hole "climate system" --- compressor (I don´t know why) and condensor, called out $1000 only for parts. My friend said that´s too much for him - now he´s looking for a cheaper way, because he´s not sure if it´s necessary to replace all parts.
I know what you mean while reading it. I can´t believe this story too. But it´s the truth. Now he´s looking for a new heater core teeling my friend, that ít´s not easy to get one -lasting about 6 days.
I think this mechanic wants to make a big deal.
I stopp reporting now because it´s embarrassing for me. (oh--what a friend)
