a basic grasp of how the different systems in a car work can go a long way to solving these type of problems. the generic troubleshooting flow chart in every chiltons is quite helpful as well. if the car turns over but won't start this is a problem in the "high" voltage ie ignition system/ DI etc or a fuel system or mechanical engine problem. if the lights work etc but the starter won't turn over it indicates a problem in the "low" voltage/12v side somewhere from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid/starter. I don't know why replacing the DI cassette would solve the problem you are describing but perhaps there is some logical explanation i am unaware of. intermittent problems can be hard to identify but i wouldn't be suprised if your problem comes back. read up a little on car mechanics , a little knowledge will keep your mechanic honest and questioning a sketchy proposed repair with a critical eye wil save you repeat trips for the same problem. good luck! john
