You are not reading enough.
The p-brakes have zero wear when they are working right and only wear when the mechanism needs to be cleaned and lubricated. Bad cables can cause problems as well. The p-brakes should never need to be adjusted for the life of the vehicle or the cable assy. If they need adjustment this means tear it down and fix it. If you just adjust the p-brake you are simply tighening the noose around your neck!
