Hi Adam,
Having just completed this project, I can say that number one; there is no substitute for good, clean power. Number two; bringing the sounstage into the front cabin (i.e. filling the door speakers) makes a world of difference. I obtained a modified cable from Eric (Eric's Saab site) and installed a Rockford Fosgate 4-channel amp under the passenger kick panel.
Infinity Reference 605cs components in the doors, 6953i 6x9's in the rear.
These are very mid-line speakers and a great amp. I also installed an amp wiring kit off the battery. I spent alot of time on the install making custom baffles and running wiring to all speakers but this could be done easier and cheaper with similar results. I bought everything on ebay and spent $50.00 on the amp, $35.00 on the wiring kit, $150.00 for all speakers and about $30.00 on misc. hardware. So for under $300.00 I now have so much low-end I have to actually roll off the bass contour to about the 9-10 o'clock position on the head unit. Overall, I had more time and tools than money and I am VERY happy with the results. I also use the LVT that Yak recommends, and unless you want to leave the head unit on all the time, I suggest the SPS OFF by Stinger to eliminate popping on power down.

Best to you, Doug P
