A rough week for the Viggen. I blew out the fuel pump outlet over the weekend. I got lucky that the spewing gas did not hit the exhaust pipe. Still under warranty so I received the free tow to the dealer.
I also need an inspection done but could not pass because the tires are too worn on the front. Sumitomo HTR+ after only 16K miles. Mostly highway miles (80 mile roundtrip to work into the hill country around Austin) and I rotated every 5K miles. I ordered Pilot Sport A/S from Costco. Cost more (a lot) but hopefully will last longer and the costco guy recommended them over the Bridgestones. I am also going up to 225/45/17 to protect the wheels. One was bent enough that it needed replacing. Bummer.
I do have (dealer still waiting on the fuel pump) a 9-3SS for a loaner. Pretty nice car. Motor and Chassis are very good, I like the layout (particularly the old style round temperature controls), and the tremendous headroom over my convertible. My dislikes are picky: the center armrest is too far back, the driver's door rattles from the speaker, the speakers are crappy, the cup holders are hard to reach, and downshifts can be abrupt. I think the 6-speed, T motor should be pretty nice.
Just got a call from the dealer. One more day in the SS for me.
