Power seat and window problems- Viggen

A couple of weeks ago, the fuse which covers the circuit for my power windows popped every time I put down the passenger window. iritating, but Houston is hot this time of year I rarely put down the passenger window so I put it my to do list for the dealer next time I was in.
Wife was driving the car last week when the power seat mysteriuosly slid forward, locked in the forward position, and will not respond to the seat controls any more. So far forward in fact, that I was unable to drive it, and Trish had to take it into the dealer.
Aside from any thoughts anyone has on whether the problems might be related, Why would the seat default to the full forward position when the switch and /or motor dies? Seems a bit dangerous.....
