Well if the SID is acurate, then the link between the sensor in the tank and the SID must be good, so it must be the link between the gauge in the dash and the tank thats not in sync. Im not exactly sure, but does the needle drop all the way to the bottom when the night panel is activated or the car is off? Does the needle go above Full when the tank is completely full? Maybe the guage is not centered correctly? Or perhaps the gauge itself is just plain faulty. If im correct, a gas guage is basically an ohm-meter reading of the resistance between a float that slides within a metal tube in the tank, as the gas raises the float rasies and makes contact higher in the tube. The conductive material that the current flows trough becomes less as the float is now completing the circuit higher in the tube and now has less resistance. The SID is calcualting off of a pure digital signal, the needle is an analog representation of this same signal, perhaps the trouble is somewhere within this conversion?
