I purchased a 4yr, extension that went out to 100K miles with a $0 ded. for around $1700. In the 2 years that I owned the car out of warranty, I had a drive shaft flex disc fail, the radio ant. go bad and a fan motor become noisy. These items added up to around $1100 so they were still ahead. I decided to trade the car in on a new one and when I called to cancle the warranty, they told me that I was due a refund for the unused portiuon. I was told that it would be prorated so I am thinking $50 or something. They cut me a check back for $650 after over 2 years and several claims! I would do it again as I consider it a good deal and cheap insurance against a major problem like a transmission, ECU, head gasket, etc.

I Also had one of these on an Audi that hit about $6000 in repair bills...this was a fluke but would have been a killer without the warranty.

Also consider when you sell the car as it will make it easier if it is still covered! I just went shopping for a daily commuter for my wife and I will tell you that the Audi A6 that I was looking at with the extended warranty was FAR more attractive then any of the others in the same price range with the same options.

On the flip side, I hear that the insurance company that backs Warranty Gold has filed for bunkruptcy. They are continuing with operations and have been around for some time but this is one negative point to consider. Warrantybynet.com is cheaper but have not been aroundas long. Going to 3 years and a total of 75K with a $0 ded. on my '99 Viggen is around $1680.

Good luck!
