Yahoo autos (link below) reports 312mm front brakes and 290mm rear brakes for all 3 trim levels. This agrees with the top numbers Ian listed below, but Ian listed 3 sets of front numbers and 2 sets of rear numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if Yahoo just got this wrong for the Linear and Arc, but other things that are different about the trims are correctly reported as different by their pages. This was all I could find with a few Google searches.
Also, I went to a dealership today and looked closely at the brakes themselves. Etched into the metal on a Linear was "285/25" and on an Arc and a Vector was "302/28". I've no idea what these numbers mean, but the first number is in the right ballpark to be a size in mm, though they don't agree with any of the numbers above. Anyone know what these mean?
Does anyone who reads this board have a service manual with part numbers and descriptions?
Consumer Reports tested a Vector recently and said: "Braking performance was excellent, achieving the shortest stopping distance we?ve ever recorded for a sedan... On wet pavement, the 9-3 stopped shorter than most cars do on dry." The dry stopping distance comparison numbers from their test track were:
9-3: 120ft
IS300: 128ft
3-series: 131ft
A4, G35, and S60: 133ft.
The 9-3's performance at this test was even better than some sports cars:
Corvette: 121ft
Boxter: 124ft
I'm curious whether this great braking performance is exclusive to the Vector trim.
