I posted the following on the CarPoint consumer review section this weekend; I think it pretty well describes the interior and the 9-3 in general:

Pros:

The Linear handles and brakes very well. SAAB's exemplary safety goes without saying. Styling is very good.

Cons:

Some cars grow on you -- the 9-3 Linear does the opposite. The stereo is the worst factory system I've heard in at least 20 years -- so bad that I cannot recommend this car on that basis alone. The cheapness of the stereo then sensitizes one to the other ways this car has been "GM-isized" (GM now owns SAAB). The dash and switchgear have the cheap look and feel for which GM is notorious. And given that the GM beancounters have worked their usual magic on obvious things, I'm concerned about the stuff that isn't so obvious and am afraid that the long term reliability of this car will be similar to other GM products, i.e., substandard to poor.

Overall Review:

My wife drives a SAAB 9-5, which is a tremendous car, and is why I leased the 9-3. The 9-5 has that feeling of substance that one associates with European cars ... while more and more the 9-3 merely feels "GM." Think Cavalier or Grand Am with a turbo and extra airbags, and you'll have the essence of the 9-3.
