Actually, I'm not bothered by the rust. Like I said, I've never owned a car that didn't do it.
But as far as being willing to pay $1000 more for a car, that's gonna light off another rant of mine!
I've been willing to pay $1000 premium for brakes or something that performed better. Do you think solid front rotors & rear drums would save some money? I'm looking for a small car right now, and I'm not looking at Civics at all 'cause they all have rear drums. Except for the Si which is, well, kinda ugly (to me).
I paid a more for the old '89 900 compared to some Toyota or Mazda of similar size. The '01 9³ cost more than others of the same size, although others didn't have hatchbacks as big.
But I really DIDN'T WANT to pay an extra $1000 (guess?) for the OnStar hardware & first "free" year. I wasn't given a choice. You know that stuff isn't really free. It's just built into the base price.
