I was downshifting from 5th to 4th and stupid me
hit 2nd instead. The engine shut down, everything
went dark, and that was all she wrote. I still had
the temp plates on the Viggen, 3 wks new to me.
A beautiful car, perfect in every way...until I came
along.
Its been 3 weeks at the dealer and I am still heart
broken. The timing jumped 4 links on the chain. Had
to take the head off and ship it to a machine shop
where they stripped it down, magnafluxed it, and
completely rebuilt it with all new parts. All the
valves were bent, and I assume they had to replace all
of the guides and valve seats as well as springs, etc.
Dealer has been fantastic...they are replacing the
hydrolic chain tensioner and timing chains as well.
I should get the car back tomorrow, I just hope that
it is as good as it was, but I fear that it may never
be the same. On the other hand, the top end now has
0 miles on it...
Breaks my heart...and I am ordering the Saab Savior.
