2000 Saab 9-3

I found the problem with my blower motor. The relay was bad.....or corroded is a better term.

It turns out the brains at Saab decided to put the relay in the car exposed to the elements. That would not be so bad except for the fact they used cheap metal, which is exposed.

What does this all mean? It means if you live in a humid climate your relay will rust on several of the connections and eventually shut down your blower.

What can you do to fix it? Next time you change your cabin filter, check remove the relay (it is easy, blue and you can't miss it. Just pull it out after removing the torque screw).

You will probably see rust on the ground connections. My guess is the two metals on the connections are corroding each other. Take a Dremel and remove all the rust.

Conductive grease is perfect for the connections going to the blower. They need some sort of protection. Unfortunately Radio Shack was out of the grease so I will have to wait till my next cabin filter change to add the grease.

I repeat, if you are in a humid climate, this will happen to you.

Bad design.
