9-3 SS impressions from a tall guy(long)

I took some time to test drive a 9-3 SS Arc this weekend. First I am tall...6'7". I currently own a 2001 9-5(my wife has a 2002 9-3SE). There is just barely enough headroom in the 9-5 for me. What a wonderful surprise in the 9-3 SS. There is more room all around. More leg room...more head room and the steering column tilts as well as extends. I could really sit up with my back fully against the seat. And the new 9-3 SS is quiet. I had just driven for an hour and ten minutes in my wifes's 9-3 and what a difference in the noise level. The Arc also really handles well. It behaves yet you can push it. Just the right amount of understeer for my liking. Great visibility...as good or better than my 9-5. With the sport suspension and 17" wheels it would really hit the sweet spot for me. I also took out a Vector. Very strange, but the seats were very uncomfortable for me. Less head room and they just didn't fit well for someone 6'7". I also now understand some of the complaints. Radio...quality of some of the interior materials, etc. But overall what a wonderful experience. Two other quick things. I love the 5 speed auto and the way the floor shifter works. Do not like the steering wheel paddles so much. They make it awkward when turning tight turns and trying to shift. Also test drove a 9-5 Aero with an auto. Once again not as much room, BUT what a ride. Then again it is a totally different car and 5 to 6 thousand more. When my lease is up in a few months it will be a hard decision whether to keep with the 9-5 line or move to a 9-3 SS Arc.
