I bought my '99 9-3 convertible used. On the passenger side of the center console are four drill holes, suggesting there had once been a car phone bracket installed there. It has since been removed. Adjacent to that is a little access door into the center console that looks like it would get used to make phone wire connections to something inside the center console.
Is the car pre-wired for phone? Is there an after market device which I can re-mount in the same location to plug my cell phone into and have it be integrated into a microphone and speakers? I would like to have ability for hands free driving when the roof is closed. I have never noticed any obvious microphones in the car, although I am not sure where to look for one either. Some cars use stereo speakers for listening, they automatically shut down music when a call comes in. I just don't know if this car is one of them.
