Wondering if anyone knows about this kind of phenomenon. About 1 year ago, I started getting the infamous "Service Theft Alarm" message. The first step was to replace the siren battery. That worked for a while. Then the message came back. Next fix was to rewire the ground for the system. That worked for a while too. Then the message came back again ... apparently not leaving any kind of error code in the system. So the most recent fix was to replace the TWICE module. While doing that, they noticed my battery was almost dead so I told them to replace that too (no time to install an optima this weekend).
When I got the car back, none of my alarm remotes worked, even though they HAD been reprogrammed. I pointed this out to the dealer before leaving, then watched as he and the mech. tried numerous tech. II settings to try and get my door locks back. Some attempts came close, others didn't. At one point, all the door locks seemed frozen.
As 6pm grew near, and my lame dodge stratus loaner showed up, the best they could do was get all the locks except for the driver's side to work. I just got a call this AM telling me that somehow the driver's door lock has been shorted out (eg., needs to be replaced) along with the fuel cap lock. Thankfully, they'll order the parts and fix it free of charge.
But still, seems like a strange little saga, no? I'd love to hear back from folks on this. They have an '01 Viggen on the lot which I asked them to swap the parts out for, but they said they couldn't because the '01 Viggen has different electronics. Does that sound right?
Anyhow, I'll have to hobble along manually locking my door for a while and hoping nobody pours soap down my fuel-line. :-(
A very unhappy ...
