If it's intermittant, something must be loose. I've heard a bunch of people talk about the battery cable at the starter, but it doesn't seem to cause the car to quit. I'm wondering if it could possibly be where the negative grounds to the frame? There's not a lot of things that would cause the entire car to lose power, usually if something goes, it just affects what it's powering. I'd start off having them check all of the battery cables/connections. I'm not sure with Saab, but I've found that many newer cars, unlike the old days, will quit if the battery is not connected, even if the alternator is good.
Other than that, maybe the ignition switch. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Good luck, let us know what they find!
