Hello there!
Well, I'm sure everyone here has heard my questions a zillion times before but I would appreciate if you would indulge a new guy.
I have been starting to look at 9 3 convertibles about 1999 or so and wanted some advice from the experts (you guys!) on what to look for. From what I have determined so far, the 93 is substantially improved over the 900 and it's really the way to go for the difference in cost. Other than that I'm not to familiar with the different configurations or options that are worth looking for.
In particular I'm wondering if anyone can shed provide some general Saab advice as I've never owned one before. I have a very faithful and trouble free 1989 Sonata but it won't last forever and I also have a 1968 Pontiac which I have taken apart and reassembled a number of times and can certainly take care of some of my own maintenance.
I'm wondering what to look for in particular in the convertibles and if there are any problems that would end up costing big money to repair. I assume the regular stuff like a fully functioning and intact top is essential. What about other mechanical issues? Are there problems that might pop up that I should be watching for? In particular I also assume that a poorly cared for turbo could end up with a nasty jolt to the wallet.
I also have to contend with cold winters, so I'm going to assume they are decent in the winter with snow tires and that the Swedish insulate the top well and know how to make a good heater.
Any ideas, suggestions, advice would be welcome. I'm looking for a convertible in general and the Saab's really have an appeal to me.
Thanks in advance for your help/advice.
