yep. Turns out when they pulled the bumper off they found the internal crush panels, etc. were all bent. Major bucks, plus my dad-in-law was getting the runaround from the ladies insurance. He was ready to sue for "diminished value" since the car is very rare (and over $100k) and he shows it at Porsche conventions (took 4 place once). Don't know how that turned out.
The shop he took it to seemed to specialize in high $$ cars. One MB had the front end (really, only the bumper it seemed) smashed, the guy told me that would be over $20k!!
Here's the bad luck story: There was one MB (a new 600) that had a tree limb crash thru the sunroof (during a winter ice storm) and dented the roof. The car was so new that they were waiting for parts to be shipped from Germany. The guy had brought the Merc into the shop, and was taking his other Merc to a hotel since he had lost power in the storm. He parked that night at the hotel. Apparently the condensate from the heating/AC units in the hotel dripped on the car, or the unit leaked something, and it dripped on his hood. Ruined the paint! Another big $$$ repair. Apparently that stuff is acidic. Talk about your bad luck.
