It's really not that hard. Just remove all visible screws (there should be three of them), and the plastic piece that surrounds the connector (it just lifts straight off). Then there are four friction tabs that hold the two pieces together. You can press them in one at a time with a screwdriver and the two pieces will come apart. Don't force it, just look at it closely and you'll figure it out.
Once you have it open there are two screws that hold the two circuit boards together and two more that hold the smaller circuit board to the LCD. Remove all of these, and be VERY careful not to rip the delicate ribbon cable from the board!! Just put the foam tape over the ribbon cable section that connects the cable to the circuit board (the other end that goes to the LCD doesn't need it) and then screw everything back together.
If the missing pixels aren't cured, hook up the SID with the case off and try pressing down on various parts of the cable to see which pixel lines come and go. This will isolate where the cable is not getting firm contact.
The engineers who designed this ribbon cable to circuit board connection should be ashamed of themselves!
