Drove a 2003 9-5L....Strange turbo?

Yestday I drove a 2003 9-5 linear with A/T. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed. I like it for its normal SAABness, but I expected a stronger pulling engine. The turbo worked very different from what I'm used to. In my 9-3 the amount of boost is proportionate to the throttle position. I get full boost at near full throttle. The 9-5 would boost to red at only 1/4 throttle. This made it very fast off the line for a saab automatic, but left nothing to expect for the midrange pull. The 9-3 pulls hard through the midrange, but the 9-5 seems like it had exhausted all of its boost in the first 0-20mph. Is this normal for a 9-5 with AT?
Another thing that I really dont like is the new grill design. I like the 2002 style much better. Where the 2002 has a full chrome grill, the 2003 has a painted grill with chrome accent rings. It just looks common to me, not SAAB. And the nose is too sloped I think. But, this is just my opinion.
