Buying a 9-3. Question about the suspension.

Hi. I am about to buy a new Saab 9-3 Linear with 16 inch wheels and Pirelli P6 215/55 tires. I test drove an identical model a few days ago and I found the suspension to be a bit harsh (basically the rear suspension). I was surprised because Linears and Arcs come with the "soft" suspension and all magazines and websites I have read mention that the Linear/Arc suspension setting is indeed soft. My last two cars were a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta and a 1995 Mercury Mystique, so it is not like I am used to soft cars like Buicks or Lincolns. I do not mind taut suspensions especially if they contribute to sportier handling, but I just thought the car was unusually harsh. My friend who came along for the test drive had the same opinion. Do you think it was perhaps the specific car I drove? Has anyone bought or drove a new 9-3 Linear and noticed the same thing? I live in Mexico City, where potholes and uneven surfaces are not uncommon and I would just like to know if it is normal for the car to be harsh. Thanks a lot for your time.
