Comrade Jpr
I was thinking the exact same thing(about the hack and the money). The way the hack might be be worked out would be something like this.

ECU <----------------------------------> CD player
(code exchange/confirmation)

1. First step is to figure out a way to access the ECU. Is there a serial port or some such thing through which one can get "command prompt" access to ECU memory/hardware ?
2. The CD player firmware must be hacked to have a decoder routine for MP3. To do this one must first be able to access the firmware which I am guessing one would be able to do if one has access to the ECU. The firmware can be downloaded onto a PC and then hacked into.
3. Downloading the firmware to the CD player from the ECU. I am speculating when I say that this can be done by issuing a command from the ECU "command prompt" and then inputting in appropriate hex translation of firmware object code.

If all these things can be done then I'm pretty sure the populace can start enjoying MP3 CDs.

Major obstacles I see are
1. Requiring specialised equipment to access the ECU
2. Requiring some sort of code(VIN based) to modify ECU settings(i.e downloading CD player firmware).

I hear Russians are good hackers and should be able to do the job of hacking software/firmware. Are there SAABs 9-3, 9-5 in Russia ?
