Necessary tools to work on Saab

Just got my 2000 9-3 SE a few weeks ago and am interested in working on it myself. What tools are a MUST HAVE for performing all of the minor DIY stuff like oil changes, spark plugs, MBC install, brake pads, etc? I am an electrical engineer so mechanical tools are not my forte. The car needs no work now but I would like to start accumulating tools for these jobs once they need to be done. Hoping to do a series MBC soon. Also, what kind of DIY work would void warranty? Car is covered until next June.
Thanks,
Eric
