i bought my certified 1999 9-3 3 months ago....when i took it home, i immediately noticed a slight shimmy....i brought it back the next week, i was told that they noticed the shimmy as well before i picked it up and replaced a part that was in the axel before the cv joingts(i can't remember the name)...they figured that fixed it, but they took another look since it was still happening...turns out that the car had 2 bent front rims and was badly out of alignment...the rims were replaced with 2 used rims with used tires and it was aligned and blanced...
all was well for awhile...the car still vibrated, but it wasn't that bad and i blamed it on the road....
so now i come to college and i notice it every day now...
The vibration is in the steering wheel and pedal, usually about at 45mph and higher..Today i checked the air pressure in the tires and they were all at 32 except the drivers rear which was at 29... I filled it to 32 and on my way home i notice that the vibration was reduced, but still there...
my question...when they replaced my bent rims they gave me rims with 2 different brands of tires in the front, and the tires in the back are also different...i have 1 goodyear and 3 michelins...could my current vibration stem from the fact i have a mix match set of tires...they are close to the same wear level, but they aren't exact...
did my dealership not want to spend money on replacing my tires? ... i can't bring it to my dealer for another few months because of distance and i'd rather another saab dealer because i can't really afford non-warranty work right now, and tires would fall into that category
