This is normal, with the Bosch wipers at least. The problem seems to be the extreme curvature of the windshield. The same thing was evident on my 1984 900T. Most wipers just can't bend/curve enough to stay in contact with the windshield across the entire swiper stroke.
Most cars have a flatter, less curved windshield.
