I took my new 9-3 Vector SS with 6500 miles today in for a tire rotation on the advice of the salesman who sold it to me. I stopped by to get a Saab hat last week and he told me the premium, high speed rated, Pirelli tires should be rotated before the first 10,000 mile oil change.

So I made an appointment and went in. When I signed the work order, it said that the cost was $ 50. for a rotation. The Saab manager told me that tire rotations were not included in any of the first free 3 service calls.

When the bill came in after the rotation, the charge was $ 46.95, plus the various mysterious 'shop charges.'

As I waited for the service guy to swipe my credit card, I looked up and saw the Saab Service menu and it said that tire rotation and balance was $ 34.95.

So I asked him about it. He told me the sign was wrong but he would make the difference.

Well he couldn't figure out how to do the change on the already printed work order and invoice, so he got frustrated and told me it was FREE---and ripped up the copy and cleared my credit card.

Interesting experience.

I have to scour the service manual and find out if the first 3 services do indeed include free tire rotation.

The Saab manager told me before all of this confusion that I could have the tires rotated anywhere--they didn't have to be done at the dealership.

Thoughts? Any similar experiences?
