I have a two week old 9-3. I LOVE it. My first Saab.
I have a Neo MP3 player, but the question is applicable to a cd changer or any other audio device.
The problem I faced was how to connect this device to my Saab base audio system. While I have heard rumors of the '04's having an aux input in the center console, my '03 does not. No stereo shop was able to figure out how to hook up an FM modulator for my device to work. Even the dealer spend time (and did not charge me for it! Great shop!) but could not figure out how. Turns out the (info from the dealer here...)antenna in the rear glass turns directly to fiber optic or thru the onboard lan and goes to the radio like that. So there is nowhere to plug in the antenna adapter for the FM modulator.
After searching every store that sold anything with a circuit, I found something called and "Irock" that is a wireless fm transmitter. It plugs directly into the earphone jack of any audio device (or RCA jacks with the right adapters) and broadcasts on your choice of 4 FM stations.
This solution worked wonderfully for me. I hope it helps others.
The device comes in 2 variants, the 300fm which uses 2 aaa batteries or the 400fm which uses a cigarette lighter adapter. I paid $30 at radio shack.
Finally a solution to a very frustrating problem.
I would also like to say how pleased I am with the sense of community among Saab owners. The support and interest I recieved on the chat room and elsewhere was amazing. Thank you to all who helped or had an interest.
I look forward to becoming an active part of the Saab driver's world.
