Hi again .... and thanks for the welcome.
MisplacedYankee, the photo is great! My two sons
would love to be in the driver's seat, especially
since they both can drive (I told them that they
weren't ready yet for the Viggen!).
The car (21K miles and 2.5 years old) came from MotorWerks
in Barrington, Illinois (great place, ask for Tom Brandt)
and has brand new tires AND rims ... seems the original
owner was a bit hard on them. And it is certified, so the
warranty gets extended until 2007.
It is such a blast to drive, punching the gas to pass
cars and to get an extra boost. I live in the country
and drive 15-20 miles to work, so lots of my driving is
on nice straight non-potholed roads (but I do have to
watch those railroad tracks!).
Thanks for all the advice on tires and wheels ... I will pay
attention to them and over-inflate them to make them last
longer. But I knew when I bought this car that the tires
would be an extra expense from time-to-time. I have to
remind myself that this is a sports car (think corvette) and
so it will cost more to maintain. I plan to get winter tires
and rims too ... what are your recommendations for them?
I have NEVER seen another Viggen on the road --- and I do pay
attention to Saabs (this is my fifth ... 1989 White 900,
1994 Green 900SE, 1996 Red 900SE Conv, 1999 Dark Blue 9-5SE).
This Viggen is my favorite. No doubt about it. And I do have a
radar detector and I use it! And yep, you have to keep BOTH
hands on the steering wheel!
And you are all correct ... the car does take some time to learn
how to drive. I was actually a bit scared of it at first (and
I have lots of experience with Saabs)... but I am getting
better at learning when to punch the gas!
Take care you all ... I am sure I will have more questions later!
