Hi Dennis
What you describe sounds like a fuel cut. Typically fuel cuts only happen on modified cars that are pushing the upper limits of boost pressure. One would typically see a fuel cut above 15.5 psi's so if you haven't modified the car to increase boost, it may be a boost control system problem.
Someone else on this board has experienced a similar problem with the boost control system without boost mods done, but the car is an automatic with a sport exhaust, TBTC porting, Cone air intake, and D/C silencer removed. None of these mods should affect fule cuts so maybe there is an issue once in awhile with the system.
A few things you could check prior to taking it to a mechanic:
1. Check to make sure that all vacuum hoses are attached properly. There should be 3 hoses attached to the BPC.
2. Check to make sure that the hose is connected to the wastegate. If that hose has come off or has a split in it, you could be over boosting, but it would show up on the boost needle.
2. What year is the car?
3. What is your boost gauge read when the hesitation occurs.
4. Look over the engine to ensure that all other hoses are connected properly.
This is not definitive that this is the problem but rather a place to start.
