our parked 9-5 had a similar problem (though with an F-250 instead) a couple months ago- and also a nice guy who left a note. Dents in the doors and fenders were bad enough that the door panels needed replacement. Total cost to get it looking new again was around $2400, PLUS the cost of a rental car for 3 weeks.
I agree with the others- file a claim and let the insurance companies take care of it. It's what they're there for.
But call ahead on the rental, if insurance pays for that. The wife wasn't too happy about the Lancer she was stuck with for that whole time- even a sebring would've been a big step up. (although it did make her REALLY appreciate the saab even more)
