Headlight Lens Removal

Hi all -
First, let me assure you that I have read the archives and learned what I can. I still ahve a few questions, if you'd be kind enough to answer with your experiences.
I have a 2000 9-3 base model. This morning, a rock hit the driver's side headlight lens and broke it. A new headlight assembly is $320. A new headlight lens is $77. (both prices from Seattle dealer)
I read in the archives that it is possible to remove and replace the lens. If true, this would save me about $243, so that's cool. I do have some concerns.
1. The dealer mentioned that there is adhesive involved. I haven't read anything in the archives about adhesive. Did any of you need or find adhesive? If the lens is glued to the assembly, that's a whole different ballgame from one where the lens is clipped to the assembly.
2. Assuming the glue thing isn't a problem, did you have a problem realigning the headlight assembly when it is re-installed? I assume that removing the assembly to change the lens screws up the aiming of the headlight (i.e., it isn't pointed where it used to be pointed). Is this an issue?
Thanks for your help.
Mark
