I hear you - Hoffman is the pits! When I picked up my '99 from Guilford Saab - they were excellent although I never went to them for servicing. I used Saab of Orange and all they do is service Saabs (factory warranty, etc.) and they were awesome! I just can't justify driving 50 minutes to get my car serviced. I know the owner of Mitchell Saab's wife who used to work in my office and she told me that they would take good care of me so I will be going there from now on although it's another 20 minute drive for me.
B/T/W - I called Saab USA and told them how I felt that Hoffman should have replaced the "smelly" filter under warranty and they told me it was my responsibility to make sure that foreign objects stay out of the vent system. I told her that it is clearly a design problem and they should step up to the plate and acknowledge the vent intake was poorly designed (location and screen size). I also asked her to refer to the page in the owner's manual that advises that the 9-3 should not be parked outside to avoid leaves. She couldn't, of course, but wouldn't budge on the issue.
I just got a call back from Hoffman saying they changed the filter free of charge and that we will "talk" when I bring it back. I'm sure they did that only because I called Saab North America to complain. The problem is that it seems as though noone really understands Customer Support anymore. They're trying to sell cars and build owner loyalty but still don't get it. I have never been through any grief with my BMW...
