my 98 900 SET Talladega. I read the post and got inspired as you did.
My grille was more difficult to work with as I tried to save some of the pins but had to break some off (all but three) as the black plastic was moulded on to the chrome pins. I also had to cut all three parts of the mesh grille out individual as there is a recesses on the black part that the chrome slips in to. I used the same gutter guard grille as you and primed it 2 times, then 3 coats of a dark silver (metal flakes in paint) and let dry. When I reattached I had to use 4 tiny stainless steel nuts & bolts at the top of the grille (the part that the hood's weather stripping covers). Also used good adhesive on the remaining pins and the bottom of the grille. I am happy with the results. Makes the Saab look a bit more sporty but keeping it elegant.
I like you site, very well done. Nice Viggen!
